Financing

A $4,200 sewer line should not become a $4,200 problem.

Two financing partners. $0 down, 0% APR available, soft-pull pre-qualification. No high-pressure script.

Plumbing emergencies don't pick paydays. A sewer line collapses on a Saturday. A water heater fails the morning of your daughter's bridal shower. The dishwasher's supply line ruptures the week your property tax is due. We have seen all three. The financing partnerships exist for one reason — so the conversation at the kitchen table is about whether to fix the pipe, not whether you can afford to fix the pipe this week.

What follows are the two financing options we partner with. No high-pressure script. No "we never deny" theatrics. The lender approves or denies — that's between you and them. We just make the application easier and tell you which option has historically worked for the kind of work you need done.

Our two financing partners

GreenSky

GreenSky is the home-improvement lending platform most often used for plumbing work in our service area. They offer terms of 12, 24, 60, and 84 months. The 12-month plan carries 0% APR for qualified buyers. Pre-qualification is a soft pull — checking your eligibility does not affect your credit score. The hard pull only happens after you accept the offer and proceed to a full application.

Typical Mercer Plumbing financed jobs through GreenSky: sewer-line replacement, water-heater install, whole-home repipe, large remodel rough-ins.

Synchrony Home Card

Synchrony Home Card is a revolving home-improvement credit card available at participating contractors (we are one). Best for repeat customers and households doing multiple smaller projects over time. Synchrony runs deferred-interest promotions on qualifying balances — typically 6-month and 12-month no-interest-if-paid-in-full windows. Read the terms carefully: deferred interest accrues from day one and is added retroactively if the balance is not paid in full by the promotional end date. This is the standard structure for retail home-improvement cards but it bites if missed.

Best for: smaller repairs, fixture installs, ongoing customers, anyone who reliably pays cards off in full.

What you can finance

The work that most often gets financed through us:

  1. Sewer-line replacement. Range $6,500–$14,000. The most common financed job. GreenSky's 60-month plan is the standard product.
  2. Water-heater install. Standard tank $1,840, tankless $4,200–$5,800. GreenSky 12- or 24-month plans most common.
  3. Whole-home repipe. Range $4,200–$11,000 depending on home size and access. GreenSky 60- or 84-month.
  4. Gas-line install + appliance hookup. Range $850–$2,400. Synchrony 12-month deferred-interest is the common choice.
  5. Bath/kitchen rough-in. Fixed bid, typically $2,800–$8,000. GreenSky 24- or 60-month.

What we don't finance

We do not push financing on small repairs. If your call is a $189 drain cleaning, a $245 toilet install, or a $385 faucet swap, you are not signing paperwork. The paperwork costs more than the cash difference. We will tell you "just pay it" because at that price point, that's the right answer. Financing kicks in at $1,500+ where the household-budget impact is real and the spread between cash and 12-month financing meaningfully matters.

Pre-qualify in 60 seconds

GreenSky's soft-pull pre-qualification takes about a minute. Tells you what you'd qualify for before we even quote the job. No hard inquiry, no impact on your credit score.

Frequently asked · financing

Will applying for financing affect my credit score?

GreenSky pre-qualification is a soft pull — it doesn't affect your score. The hard pull only happens after you accept the offer and proceed to a full application. Synchrony Home Card applications are a hard pull.

What credit score do I need to qualify?

GreenSky's general guideline is 640+ FICO for standard terms; their best rates (12-month 0% APR) usually require 700+. Synchrony's Home Card is similar. We can't promise approval — that's between you and the lender — but we can tell you which option has historically worked for similar customers.

Do you mark up financed jobs?

No. The price is the same whether you pay cash, card, or financing. We do not add a "financing surcharge" or hide a markup in the financed total. The lender pays us a small dealer fee — we eat that, not you.

Can I finance a small repair?

Technically yes; practically no. We don't push financing on jobs under $1,500 because the paperwork and interest cost more than the cash difference. For most $189 drain cleanings or $385 faucet swaps, just pay it. Financing makes sense at $1,500+ where the budget impact is real.
